Where is all the Information about Mutation?
Where is all the Information about Mutation is a series of Polaroids taken of agricultural objects on a former farm where I stayed for a week as a photography tutor for Dartmoor Arts. Using expired film, found on site, the work creates a dialogue between different materials: the degraded chemistry of Polaroid and disused farm implements and equipment.
The leaking chemicals – affected by time, damp and cold – had been creating a latent image long before the exposure. The chemical damage on the surface both obscures and is part of the image. This mutation – of surface and subject, of image and place – is both a gap and a doubling. It unifies and separates.Back to gallery
