Where is all the Information about Mutation?

Where Is All the Information About Mutation explores the idea that place might disappear in the gap between subject and medium. Read more

Where is all the Information about Mutation is a series of Polaroids taken of agricultural objects on a former farm where I stayed for a week as a photography tutor for Dartmoor Arts. Using expired film, found on site, the work creates a dialogue between different materials: the degraded chemistry of Polaroid and disused farm implements and equipment.

The leaking chemicals – affected by time, damp and cold – had been creating a latent image long before the exposure. The chemical damage on the surface both obscures and is part of the image. This mutation – of surface and subject, of image and place – is both a gap and a doubling. It unifies and separates.
